Reflection Essay

In this class we wrote 3 major essays, which were helpful in that were able to gain experience writing a variety of different types of essays and writing styles. I believe that my portfolio does present my absolute best work writing in this class and I do not feel that any of them need to be revised or rewritten because they all earned full points and I put my full effort and a significant amount of time and effort into each one. I think that it was beneficial that we wrote a variety of different kinds of essays because we were able to practice writing narratively and incorporating our own personal writing style and voice into our work in the electronic literacy narrative paper. We also learned how to assess a speaker or a piece of writing for the author’s use of pathos, logos, and ethos rhetorical appeals in our multimodal rhetorical analysis papers. Finally, we gained the useful skill of researching topics extensively through many different sources and how to cite those sources according to mla formatting in our research papers. One thing that I feel we should have practiced more of in this class is creative writing. I have written many research papers as well as rhetorical analysis papers throughout my high school career so these skills were not new to me, however, I felt that it was useful to review them and practice writing more of them because I will be comfortable writing these kinds of paper and prepared to write more complex papers of these sorts later in my college career. I also enjoyed how this class explored submitting our work to a blog and incorporating electronic sources and then Internet into our writing.
